Tien Vorsoisson was an administrator in the Serifosa terraforming project. While working there he got involved in what he assumed was an embezzlement scheme. Unknown to him he was aiding Komarran terrorists, led by Soudha, another employee of the terraforming project.

Born on Barrayar he suffered from a genetic disorder known as Vorzohn's Dystrophy.

He was married to Ekaterine and had a son, Nicholas.

He was careless in his manner and disparaging of his Komarran colleagues. He was also very self-conscious of his disorder and terrified of anyone discovering he was afflicted with it. He never saved any money, but engaged on risky and ultimately doomed financial ventures. He always promised his wife that he would get galactic treatment, but there seemed to be no substance to these promises.

His marriage had been in decline and when, during a visit of the Imperial Auditors Miles Vorkosigan and Professor Vorthys (Tien's uncle-in-law) Ekaterine decided to leave him, he decided to betray his co-embezzlers and reveal their actions to the Auditors. He hoped to save both himself and his marriage by this action.

Unfortunately he and Auditor Vorkosigan were captured by the terrorists and Vorsoisson later died when his breath-mask air-supply ran out; he had forgotten to check it before leaving the Serifosa Dome.

The terrorists left behind a detailed report of his evolvement with the embezzlement scheme in an attempt to repay him for his betrayal. The terrorists did not intend him to die.

Tien body was returned to Barrayar for burial by Imperial Security.

Due to security issues Tien's involvement in the embezzlement scheme and any mention of the terrorists is omitted from the public reports of his death. Most of his family and the public only know that he died of a breath-mask accident.
