Ges Vorrutyer is most notably remembered as a close friend and comrade of Prince Serg.

Before taking this role though, he had had an affair with Aral Vorkosigan shortly after the suicide of Aral's wife. The end of the relationship left Vorrutyer with a burning hatred or Aral.

Vorrutyer was a violent sodimite and avid follower of the Marquis de Sarde. He performed his "arts", mostly unhindered by anyone and soon supported by Prince Serg to whom Vorrutyer became a teacher.

Originally slated as the scapegoat in Emperor Ezar's elaborate assassination of Prince Serg, Vorrutyer was instead killed by Sergeant Bothari. Attempting to gain control over Commodore Vorkosigan, Vorrutyer was attempting to rape Captain Cordelia Naismith when Sergeant Bothari slit his throat.
