Ethan Urquhart is a doctor from the planet Athos specialising in Reproductive medicine.

After a batch of new, and badly needed, ovaries for Athos turned out to be nothing but dead cells and even some non-human ovaries, Athos was sent by the ruling council of Athos to Kline Station to arrange for more ovaries.

On Kline Station Ethan met Elli Quinn on a mission for Admiral Naismith.

Within hours of his arrival Ethan is kidnapped by Ghem-Colonel Millisor and questioned under torture for a matter related to Elli Quinn's mission, but of which Ethan knew nothing. He was quickly rescued by Elli Quinn from near death.

Stumbling from one crisis to the next, Ethan helped Elli Quinn complete her mission, offered asylum to Terrance Cee (the cause of all the problems) and recovered the missing ovaries.

Just before returning to Athos with Terrence, Ethan managed to beg one of her ovaries off Elli Quinn, in the hope of using it to produce his son.

It is also believed that Dr Urquhart introduced the telepathic gene into Athos' gene pool and that as a result the population of Athos will be predominantly telepathic within a number of generations.
