General Haroche, the former Head of Domestic Affairs at ImpSec is most noted for his attack on his superior, Simon Illyan.

Haroche felt himself cheated when Illyan asked him to train then Lieutenant Lord Miles Vorkosigan as the new ImpSec chief. Haroche had himself been expecting to become the new chief.

When Lieutenant Vorkosigan was dismissed from ImpSec, Haroche was both pleased that he would now have the job he wanted and also concerned that he may have to wait many more years until Illyan's retirement and that in that time some other young "hot-shot" might get the job. He decided to accelerate matters.

Using a bioengineered apoptotic prokaryote -- which had previously been confiscated by ImpSec from Komarran rebels and which Haroche had stolen from the edvidence vault -- Haroche sabotaged Illyan's Eidetic Memory Chip.

The chip failure was discovered to be sabotage by Admiral Avakli and Dr. Vaughn Weddell and reported to Lord Auditor Miles Vorkosigan.

Trying to cover-up his actions, Haroche had tried to frame both Lord Miles Vorkosigan and Captain Duv Galeni.

Haroche was eventually caught when Lord Auditor Vorkosigan, and witnesses, discovered him changing air filters to hide the evidence of his crime. Haroche then confessed to Emperor Gregor.
